TinyGo 0.44 Launches With Compiler Optimizations and RP2350 Support

TinyGo 0.44 introduces binary size reductions, enhanced multicore scheduling for RP2040 and RP2350 chips, and support for new Renesas-based board targets.

TinyGo 0.44 launched on October 29, 2026, bringing binary size and performance improvements alongside hardware support additions.

The interp package now resolves map lookups, memset, interface hashing, private atomic operations, and deferred initialization at compile time, which reduces RAM use, shrinks binaries, and speeds up startup without requiring code changes. Additionally, the compiler omits impossible slice bounds checks, avoids copying byte slices in specific string comparisons, and skips desktop operating system startup work for unused temporary files. RP2040 and RP2350 chips also skip startup PLL calculations.

Multicore scheduling on the RP2040 and RP2350 adds core affinity, fixes a scheduler lock starvation issue, and makes random number reads safe across cores. The ESP32-S3 gains cores scheduler support across both Xtensa LX7 cores with core affinity, USB-OTG device support, and flash BlockDevice support. New board targets include the Arduino Uno R4 Minima, Arduino Uno R4 WiFi, NUCLEO-F401RE, and M5Stack StampFly, marking the first time TinyGo supports Renesas processors.

WebAssembly garbage collection now scans only live Asyncify stack parts, sleep times round correctly, WASI file operations avoid negative counts, JavaScript parses environment variables properly, and Linux builds use wasm-opt linked with mimalloc.

TinyGo Drivers 0.37 adds ten new devices, including the Bosch BMI270 and BMM150, without heap allocations, while older drivers also had allocations removed.
