Solid.js 2.0.0-rc.18 Adds From Helper and Enhances Serialization

The latest Solid.js release introduces the from helper for external data integration, optimizes serialization performance, and improves DOM patching for live lists.

Solid.js released solid-js 2.0.0-rc.18 on October 23, alongside a matching bump to @solidjs/[email protected].

The main addition is the from(source) helper. It accepts an Observable, AsyncIterable, or a callback subscription in the form (next, error, complete) => unsubscribe. You can pass it to createMemo(() => from(source)). Observable support covers Symbol.observable and "@@observable" interop. A subscription holds its latest value, and values emitted during subscribe land without a loading frame. AsyncIterables stream unchanged, while errors route to the nearest error boundary. The source closes when the owner disposes or the computation re-runs. On the server, from streams like the client, and ssrSource controls consumption. Server serialization sends the first value of subscriptions and Observables, unsubscribes, and lets the hydrated client subscribe again.

Live For and <Repeat> rows with preserved markup structure now send text and attribute edits instead of whole rows. Dev servers send an element tree hash for patched rows to detect and resync browser parser restructuring.

Seroval and seroval-plugins bump to 1.7.0, yielding a 20–35% serialization gain on JSON writes and hydration. Failed serialized writes stop at the first failing value.

In dev builds, event handlers fired synchronously from effect callbacks no longer inherit the effect's strict-read window or callback phase.
