Meta Releases Device Access Toolkit 1.0 for AI-Enabled Glasses

Meta’s new toolkit enables developers to build apps with direct hardware control, AI-driven voice commands, and seamless service integration for its AI-enabled glasses.

Device Access Toolkit 1.0 is out. You now get programmatic control over hardware features in Meta's AI-enabled glasses.

This includes direct voice invocation via "Hey Meta," speech-to-text conversion for user requests, high-resolution camera capture, and access to head orientation and motion sensor data.

Web apps get an on-screen keyboard, a new UI toolkit with pre-built design elements, and the WebMCP framework. WebMCP lets you define app functions that Meta AI can trigger so users can complete tasks via conversational commands.

Meta AI Connectors is available in developer preview. It integrates services directly into Meta AI conversations via an API or MCP server, meaning you no longer need a standalone application for your service to function within a chat session.

Coming soon are new discovery mechanisms for AI glasses. These include a curated list inside the Meta AI application and a dedicated display area in an upcoming Explore app, with submission process details coming later.

Technical documentation and video sessions are available now through official developer channels.
