MariaDB Operator 26.10 Adds Support for MariaDB 12.3 LTS
The latest release of MariaDB Operator introduces support for MariaDB 12.3 LTS, alongside enhancements to replication topology, backup compression, and cluster stability.
mariadb-operator version 26.10 adds official support for MariaDB 12.3 LTS. New clusters default to the 12.3.3 image, while existing deployments keep their pinned image configurations. The project has reached over 1,000 repository stars and 11 million container image pulls.
Replication topology changes preserve binary log history by removing the RESET MASTER command when configuring replicas. Node rejoin logic uses the MASTER_DEMOTE_TO_SLAVE option for nodes returning with self-owned GTIDs to prevent convergence failures between a former primary and the cluster. Additionally, the operator reconciles the rpl_semi_sync_master_enabled state to keep it active only on the primary node.
New configuration fields control semi-synchronous behavior. You can use replication.semiSyncBootAsReplica to initialize nodes in read-only mode with semi-synchronous primary functionality disabled, and replication.semiSyncWaitNoSlave to govern timeout handling when no replicas are connected. Liveness probes now prevent unnecessary pod restarts if the SQL thread is administratively stopped during managed physical backups.
Backups now support ZSTD compression alongside bzip2 and gzip. You can also use the compressionThreads field to specify CPU thread allocations for compression tasks during backups, physical backups, and point-in-time recovery processes.
