KDE Announces Development Priorities for 2026-2028 Cycle

At Akademy, KDE unveiled three core objectives for the upcoming cycle focusing on enterprise deployment, improved documentation, and next-generation interface styling.

Akademy hosted the KDE development priorities announcement for the 2026-2028 cycle.

The first initiative is KDE for Enterprise and Deployments. David Edmundson, Neal Gompa, and Kai Uwe Broulik lead this effort to handle large-scale environment management, maintenance, and configuration in business and institutional settings.

A second objective focuses on project documentation. Nate Graham, Thiago Masato Costa Sueto, and Joseph P. De Veaugh-Geiss champion this work to clarify technical resources for contributors and end users engaging with the codebase or system functionalities.

Next Generation Styling for KDE is the final goal. Arjen Hiemstra, Akseli Lahtinen, and Andy Betts oversee this work on modernizing aesthetic components and design frameworks across the interface.
