JobRunr 9.0.0 Released With Java 11 Minimum And Jakarta EE Support

The latest release of the Java background processing library upgrades the minimum version to Java 11 and transitions to Jakarta EE namespaces while removing legacy support.

JobRunr 9.0.0 is out for both open-source and Pro editions of the Java background processing library.

Upgrade.

The minimum Java version requirement jumps to Java 11, dropping Java 8 support entirely. Version 9.0.0 also transitions to Jakarta EE 9/10 namespaces, replacing older javax.* packages with jakarta.* equivalents.

Deprecated code paths from previous iterations are removed. You should review existing JobRunr configurations because these internal changes can require adjustments to how tasks are queued or monitored within your projects. Despite these structural shifts, the library keeps supporting both SQL and NoSQL storage backends for background job scheduling without needing external messaging queues.

If you are upgrading from version 6.x or 7.x to version 9.0.0, detailed documentation regarding specific API changes and migration steps is available through the project's official technical resources.
