Google Releases Android XR Jetpack SDK 1.0.0 Stable
Google has launched version 1.0.0 of its core Android XR Jetpack toolkits to support new spatial computing hardware like the XREAL AURA and Samsung Galaxy XR.
Google released version 1.0.0 Stable of the three core toolkits in the Android XR Jetpack SDK: Jetpack SceneCore, ARCore for Jetpack XR, and XR Runtime. This finalized base arrives alongside the launch of XREAL AURA, the first wired optical see-through glasses running Android XR, and headsets like the Samsung Galaxy XR.
Jetpack SceneCore places 3D objects, floating windows, and spatial audio in a room, while ARCore for Jetpack XR tracks hands, eyes, and real-world surfaces, and XR Runtime manages system memory and hardware compatibility.
Additionally, Google updated interface toolkits for wired XR glasses and lightweight glasses tethered to a phone. Jetpack Compose for XR (1.0.0-beta02) and Material Design 3 for XR (1.0.0-alpha17) turn flat 2D phone apps into floating 3D panels, including layout fixes for narrower fields of view like the 70-degree display on the XREAL AURA.
For eyewear connecting to a phone, Jetpack Projected (1.0.0-alpha14) links phone apps to display or audio-only AI glasses while handling wear detection, battery checks, and touchpad input. Meanwhile, Jetpack Compose Glimmer (1.0.0-alpha22) formats notifications as high-contrast cards for transparent waveguide lenses. Google also shipped stable smart glasses emulators in Android Studio, though the interface and phone-tethered libraries remain in beta or alpha status.
