GitHub Copilot for JetBrains Adds Administrative Controls and MCP Support
The latest update to GitHub Copilot for JetBrains introduces new administrative model defaults, support for Model Context Protocol servers, and improved chat interface actions.
GitHub Copilot for JetBrains version released on October 10 adds administrative controls for model defaults and configuration options for Model Context Protocol servers.
Startup controls let teams manage when specific tools become active. For enterprise environments, administrators can define default agent models for new conversations to standardize AI models used across teams.
Chat interface refinements include a Fix action directly from diagnostic menus. You also get new controls for copying and editing messages, alongside grouped turn navigation for extended chat histories.
Note that this release terminates support for JetBrains IDE 2025.1. Developers using that version must upgrade their IDE to maintain access to the latest Copilot features.
