Flathub Reverses Ban on AI-Generated Content With New Labeling Rules

Flathub now permits applications containing AI-generated content provided that developers explicitly disclose its usage in their submission metadata.

Flathub updated its policy to reverse a previous total ban on applications containing artificial intelligence-generated content. You can now host software utilizing AI on the platform if you follow new transparency requirements.

During submission, you must clearly identify whether your application uses AI-generated content. This rule applies to any application using AI-generated assets, code, or output. If you fail to properly label this content, your application may be removed from the storefront.

The guidelines are currently in effect for all new submissions and existing application updates. Developers who rely on automated tools for asset creation or code generation need to review their submission metadata to ensure compliance.
