Cloudflare Workers Adds Official First-Class Support for Python
Cloudflare Workers now natively supports Python, allowing developers to deploy FastAPI, Django, and Flask applications directly to the global edge network.
Cloudflare Workers now officially supports Python as a first-class language. You can deploy Python apps straight to the global edge network. This addition joins existing support for JavaScript, TypeScript, and Rust, making popular frameworks like FastAPI, Django, and Flask runnable in this serverless setup.
The integration gives your Python code direct access to Cloudflare infrastructure. You can use native bindings to hook into Workers AI, R2 object storage, D1 databases, Durable Objects, Queues, and Workflows. These connections handle state and data storage directly, avoiding external configuration or complex workarounds.
To help you run code at the edge, the platform broadens support for WebAssembly packages. Python applications can use existing libraries that rely on compiled code. The environment also works with common machine learning and AI libraries, including LangChain, OpenAI, and MCP.
By matching standard Python tooling, the platform lets you move existing backends to a distributed cloud architecture with minimal changes to your usual local setup.
