Clojure 1.13.0-Alpha9 Released With Performance And Build Improvements
The latest alpha release of Clojure introduces internal performance optimizations, enhanced build reproducibility, and cleaner metadata handling.
Clojure 1.13.0-alpha9 is out, bringing internal cleanups, performance tweaks, and build updates.
The :defaults directive and its associated tests are gone since other mechanisms now handle those use cases.
Performance work focuses on faster transient metadata propagation in into and update-vals. The RT library now revises meta? implementation and inlining for better efficiency. TransientArrayMap expands at the exact same threshold as PersistentArrayMap now.
Build tracking and version verification change with two updates: class files are favored when class and source timestamps match, and file timestamps automatically default to the last git commit time to support reproducible builds.
On the bug fix front, the runtime catches protocol extension attempts for non-protocol methods to prevent unexpected behavior. You can test these updates on the alpha branch.
