Claude Code Launches Cloud Sessions for Persistent Remote Development

Anthropic has introduced Cloud Sessions for Claude Code, allowing AI development agents to execute long-running tasks in the cloud independently of a local machine.

Claude Code exited research preview and launched Cloud Sessions. This feature lets AI-driven development tasks run independently of a local machine’s connection. You can start long-running coding processes and keep workflows active even when your laptop is closed or disconnected from the internet.

The update moves processes to the cloud so agents can maintain state and execute instructions for tasks like refactoring, debugging, or code analysis without requiring an open local development environment.

Existing subscribers received one-time credits to test the functionality. Pro subscribers get $100 in credits, and Max subscribers get $250. You apply these credits toward compute costs for running persistent sessions.

Future use of Cloud Sessions consumes resources from your subscription account as the agent operates in the cloud.
