Box2D 3.2 Released With Threefold Performance Gains

The latest release of the Box2D physics engine delivers a significant performance boost alongside new features for large world simulations, state snapshots, and character movement.

Box2D 3.2 is available with performance gains and new capabilities. Compared to version 3.1, this update improves performance by a factor of three across a wide range of benchmarks, providing a capable foundation for developers integrating the engine into projects, including those utilizing the Godot framework.

Version 3.2 adds support for large worlds, enabling expansive simulation environments. You can now use recording and replay functionality to capture simulation states. Snapshots allow for the preservation of physics states, which helps with debugging and managing simulation history.

A new dynamic character mover is also included. This component provides specialized logic for character movement, addressing common requirements for navigation and interaction within a simulated environment.
